WE ARE SUPERMOMS™ features Tirzah
Today, WE ARE SUPERMOMS™ would like to celebrate, Tirzah, a Bay Area single mother to two amazing children, Machiah (13) and Chloe (7). She has a degree in fashion marketing and studied business and theology at Saint Mary's College. She worked for a health insurance company for 7 years and in 2014, she quit her corporate job to run her own catering and personal chef business full-time.
Tirzah shared some insight on her progress and how life has been since making the big decision to quit her corporate job to pursue her passion: "I worked at a health insurance company for 7 years. In 2014, I quit the secure life of corporate America to run my own catering and personal chef business full time. Ever since I quit I have experienced nothing but success!! Not success in the financial aspect, as most people measure it. But success in my life overall. I can now volunteer in my kids classes without having to be worried about losing my job. I can travel and take meaningful vacations with friends. I can go to the gym and eat well. I can volunteer for charities. I have time to live the life i want, AND do what I love, while making a great income. To me, that is success!!! Not to mention I have some of the best clients ever!!! Quitting my job was a form of self love. I have been a single mom since my son Machiah was 2, he is 13 now. I met my daughter Chloes dad when my son was 3, and we had a very volatile relationship. He was not only physically, but mentally, and emotionally abusive. It took a lot of self work to overcome all the trauma he caused in my life. But I did it! And that is the message I want people to know most, that it's you who gets you through. Being positive, loving yourself, and giving yourself the things you need is how you heal. My mom used to tell me "just like when you're on an airplane, you have to put the mask on and save yourself first before you help anyone else!" I used to think that attitude was selfish, but now I know that self love is the best kind of love you can give yourself. Loving yourself, taking care of yourself, and ensuring that you are meeting your own needs is one of the healthiest forms of love you can give!!! I am showing my children that believing in yourself and your abilities enables you to live the life you want, and that's what makes me a super mom!"
Yes indeed, Tirzah! You are so inspiring! There are moms out there who needed to hear your story of resilience, courage and strength and your successful pursuit in following your dreams. You pursued your passion and you are doing very well for yourself and your children. That is so commendable and I am certain that you will encourage so many moms out there to have the courage to pursue their own dreams. You're one amazing SuperMom, Tirzah! KEEP SHINING! - ❤ Anne Hill
